COMMON RUNNING INJURIES, PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT

Injuries are common amongst runners due to the repetitive loading and high impact on muscles and joints and, as a result, this can lead to certain injuries. Injuries that runners frequently encounter include Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) where runners often complain of pain on the outside of the knee.

This pain can sometimes be caused by poor running biomechanics often due to some internal rotation happening at the hip causing tension on the band and this can result in friction on the knee.
