VO2 Max Test

THE GOLD STANDARD MEASURE OF CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS

At UPANDRUNNING your VO2 Max Test is conducted by our resident expert physiologist. We test the maximum rate of Oxygen that your body can process during exercise, defining your maximal aerobic capacity. VO2 analysis ascertains how effectively your body is utilizing oxygen to maximize output energy.  This gold standard measure of aerobic fitness will enable you to monitor the effectiveness of your training regime and assist you in future planning and program development.

THE PROCESS – WHAT TO EXPECT

The test is performed on our specialized treadmill or bike trainer. You will wear a heart rate monitor and a mask with an analyzer attached to measure your oxygen consumption. The intensity of the exercise will increase at regular intervals by speed or incline in order to raise both oxygen demand and heart rate. The test will last anywhere from four to thirty minutes, which is entirely up to your maximal level of fitness.

We encourage you to keep going until you can’t go any further. Once complete, you will cool down, hop off the treadmill or bike and go through your results.

Here you will receive a personalized printout of your fitness profile, including your VO2 max score, your maximum heart rate, your aerobic and anaerobic thresholds, and four tailored training zones. This comprehensive analysis of your personalized fitness level, along with recommendations from our sport science and human performance specialist, will help take your training and performance to the next level.

LACTATE TESTING

Lactate testing is a valuable tool for athletes who want to optimize training and performance. During high intensity exercise, the body produces lactate as a byproduct of energy metabolism. Lactate testing involves measuring the concentration of lactate in the blood before and after exercise to assess how well the body is able to clear lactate and perform at different levels of intensity. As you perform graded exercise on the treadmill or bike during your Vo2 Max Test our clinician can add on a lactate test.

DISCOVER YOUR LACTATE THRESHOLD AND OPTIMIZE YOUR PERFORMANCE

Starting at a low intensity we gradually increase the speed until the point of exhaustion, blood samples are taken at regular intervals throughout the test to measure lactate concentration. The lactate threshold is the point at which lactate production exceeds the body’s ability to clear it and is an important marker of athletic performance. By determining your lactate threshold, your coach or physio can identify your optimal training zones, plan effective training programs, and monitor your progress over time.

UPANDRUNNING Fitness Testing Packages are available from AED 2,495, inclusive of Nutrition Testing, Fitness Assessment, VALD Testing, and a VO2 Max Test.

A nutrition consultation, with our sports nutrition expert including metabolic testing and the development of a personalized dietary plan. Optimizing dietary intake for elite sporting performance is a science and a balance of an individual’s energy expenditure, metabolism, state of health, weight, and environmental factors. Evidence-based sports nutrition is essential and optimal nutrition is central to maximum performance, building muscle and stamina is only achievable when you can get your body to use your calorie intake as fuel. At UPANDRUNNING, measuring your metabolism is our preferred test and guide to creating a bespoke dietary plan.

A 60-minute fitness assessment incorporating the innovative VALD testing equipment conducted by our resident trainer and the creation of a bespoke training program. VALD performance systems are pioneering human measurement technology designed to capture real-time data across a broad range of muscle groups, positions, and exercises. The analysis of this data is utilized by your personal trainer, gaining knowledge on strength, biomechanics, and muscle imbalances to support the creation of a personalized elite training program.

Seasonal Testing Program

Maximize sporting performance & minimize the risk of injury

Partner with UPANDRUNNING and we will provide your school or club with a Seasonal Performance Testing Program for your elite, competitive teams. This program comprises a suite of digital tests and medical assessments to benchmark and drives superior performance and results. This program would be beneficial for the select sportspersons across a range of disciplines including swimming, running, gymnastics, and athletics as well as team sports such as football, netball, basketball, and rugby.

The same tests will be carried out each term to monitor progress, drive performance and minimize the risk of injury. After each series of tests, the athletes will receive a written report with the progress and recommendations as per the results.

Every Head Coach or Teacher can participate in the Performance Testing Program for free upon signing of their team.

A 60-minute nutrition session is included for each team per academic year.
