UPANDRUNNING is one of only five Medical Centers that are officially linked to the European Tour, now DP World Tour. The other four clinics include two based in the United Kingdom, one in Spain and one in
the Far East.
UPANDRUNNING’S Dr. Anna Zickerman has been affiliated with the Tour since 2009 and represents a highly dedicated team of Sports Medicine Specialists who travel with the Tour. Anna covers up to 5 events a year, with a focus on their regional events; Desert Classic and Race to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras al Khaimah, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and she also covers Sweden.
Over the years Dr. Anna has seen an interesting number of injuries; both new and old that are managed carefully as the events unfold aiming to keep the golfers competing. Players can be limited by chronic injuries, often linked to their swing or volume of balls hit, such as of the wrist, back, hip and shoulder. They can also complain of injuries sustained from training such as simple strained muscles. By correlating her history and clinical findings to her dynamic ultrasound scanning, using her portable scanner, Anna can effectively diagnose most muscle and soft tissue injuries leading to prompt decision making and planning of the most effective treatment pathways to get the players back in the game as quickly as possible.
Dr. Anna works closely with the dedicated team of Tour physios, osteopaths and sports massage therapists as well as liaising with other Sports Medical Doctors employed by the Tour and has access to a vast network of Medical and Performance linked Specialists across the world. This integrated teamwork allows a seamless transition and follow up irrespective of the event schedule and accommodates travel commitments of the players as much as possible
Dr. Anna also treats the player’s families and caddy’s, as well as the Tour staff. Here she is prepared to manage any medical condition or emergency. Although they too can present with musculoskeletal problems, she does see a lot of common colds, gastric symptoms, skin rashes, blisters and headaches and has also managed more serious complaints such as kidney stones or septicemia and diagnosed conditions such as malignant melanomas. Each event is different and presents itself with new challenges.
