Nutrition & Testing
Nutrition at UPANDRUNNING is not a wellness service. It is a clinical one.
Every program is built by Dr Zahra, Sports Medicine Specialist and published researcher in obesity and metabolic health, using physiological data most nutrition services never access — resting metabolic rate, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, body composition analysis, and a full metabolic blood panel.
The result is a nutrition plan calibrated to your actual physiology. Not a population average. Not a formula estimate. Yours.
NUTRITION STRATEGIES AVAILABLE
Nutrition that works as hard as you do
What you eat around training is not a secondary consideration, it is a primary performance variable. Timing, macronutrient composition, hydration, and recovery nutrition all drive measurable differences in how your body adapts, how fast it recovers, and how long it can sustain output. Our sports nutrition service builds a strategy around your physiology, your sport, and your training load, not a template.
Why diets fail — and what actually works
The majority of weight loss approaches fail because they treat everyone the same. They ignore the fact that your resting metabolic rate is different from someone else’s, that your thyroid, insulin response, and hormonal picture all affect how your body stores and burns fat, and that without testing these variables, any calorie target is a guess.
At UPANDRUNNING, we measure your resting metabolic rate, assess your body composition, review your blood markers, and use your CPET data to understand exactly how your body responds to exercise. From that, we build a plan specific to you.
The numbers that change everything
Most people make nutrition decisions based on averages, population formulas, generic calorie targets, watch-estimated VO₂ max. Wemeasure your actual resting metabolic rate, your true body composition, and your preciseaerobic thresholds using te same testing standard applied in elite sport. The difference between a plan built on estimates and one built on your data is the difference between managing and actually progressing.
Clinical Testing
Same testing standard used in elite sport. Applied to your body.
Test 01
Your RMR is the number of calories your body burns at complete rest. It varies significantly between individuals of the same size and age. Without measuring it, any calorie target is a population estimate — not yours.
Test 02
Two minutes. More information than any scale has ever given you.
Total fat mass, lean muscle mass by segment, visceral fat and a composition score — instantly. Repeat at 4, 8 and 12 weeks to see if your plan is actually working.
Test 03

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Our nutrition programs are physician-led and built on clinical testing data — resting metabolic rate, body composition, CPET and blood markers — that a standard dietitian consultation does not include. Dr Zahra is a Sports Medicine Specialist and published researcher in metabolic health. Every plan is derived from your individual physiology, not a general dietary template.
Yes. The 12-Week Metabolic Reset is specifically designed for those with metabolic conditions including type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, PCOS, metabolic syndrome and fatty liver. Dr Zahra manages these presentations as part of the clinical picture and coordinates with your treating physicians where needed.
Absolutely. All three programs are designed to work alongside your current training load, and the exercise prescription is calibrated to complement rather than compete with what you are already doing.
GLP-1 medication is reviewed as part of the 12-Week Metabolic Reset program where clinically appropriate. It is not prescribed for everyone, and the conversation always involves a proper clinical assessment. If prescribed, it is an additional cost.

Clinical Testing
The number every nutrition plan should start from — and almost none do
Your RMR is the number of calories your body burns at complete rest. It varies significantly between individuals of the same size and age. Without measuring it, any calorie target is a population estimate — not yours. RMR testing takes that guess out of the equation entirely.
