CLIENT CASE STUDY

Louisa has been a regular client of UpandRunning since she took up running a few years ago.  Since then her running has gone from strength to strength and she has beaten each target she has set herself, while managing a busy job and regular travel.  Here is Louisa’s UpandRunning story.

COMMON RUNNING INJURIES, PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT

Common running injuries, prevention and management

Injuries are common amongst runners due to the repetitive loading and high impact on muscles and joints and, as a result, this can lead to certain injuries. Injuries that runners frequently encounter include Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) where runners often complain of pain on the outside of the knee.

EXERCISE IS HEALTH

EXERCISE IS HEALTH

Exercise is now recognised as having a positive impact on nearly all types of physical and mental health outcomes and its effect on Cardiovascular Disease is particularly impressive. Mortality and morbidity directly due to exercise remain minimal even up to very intense levels and for the overwhelming majority, the benefits outweigh the risks.

Why should you care about your pelvic floor?
In my experience, most women are vaguely aware of Pelvic floor muscle training, but, only actually do them when they hear the words “pelvic floor”- or for the first few days after giving birth. And in this case, it is mainly a quick squeeze. Men are usually blissfully unaware they’ve even got a pelvic floor until their prostate misbehaves.
